The days passed, one after another, into weeks and into years. Another little princess came to live at the castle.
This second tiny princess had ruddy skin, auburn curls, and eyes like the grey skies of autumn. She had a fierce little chin from Ygraine's side of the family, origin unknown, but shared with Ygraine's sister.
And Ygraine was content. The world's endless bright possibilities had, for a time, narrowed down to the care and feeding of two little princesses. Ygraine didn't have much clear time or space to think from day to day. Maybe that is why she was content.
