Upstairs
Chaos - and a great deal of helpful advice lest I completely f*ck up raising my child without same - will descend in a couple hours. But right now . . . . ahhhhh. Oh, I could run around doing things. Some household things need doing. The dog, specifically, needs bathing. And a buncha stuff needs ironing, sorting, and mending. Or, I could run around doing work things. A check needs depositing; a corporate book needs compiling; some listy things need listing. But I am learning to cherish peaceful interludes nowadays. So I did not run around. Instead, I very deliberately watched (not one but) two episodes of Chopped off the TIVO. And the child is still sleeping! I did fix her lunch, to get ahead of things. Two minutes can make a real difference, and not just on Chopped. You try fixing a tiny well-balanced diced-up meal with 20 pounds of howler monkey affixed to your leg and yodeling full-force. To be fair, she is a nice little progeny who doesn't yodel much or often. But she does prefer having my full, complete, and undivided attention whenever she's in a waking state. Which is most of the day, nowadays. She and I are both definitely ready for more activity and socialization, although the sniffles (for both of us) have delayed those efforts these last weeks. Ummm. There may be one or two piles I can move around or tidy up, in preparation for the In-Law Invasion. I will relish the thought of my two cheerfully zoned-out hours as I now proceed to same. |
